Odette is a human rights attorney and a documentary filmmaker. Most recently I was the co-producer of the award-winning The Shore Break, a feature-length documentary set in the Amadiba area on South Africa’s remote Wild Coast. The discovery of titanium in their beach sand tears the community apart and pits cousin versus cousin. The impossibly difficult choices the Pondo people have to make about their future livelihoods and lifestyles, are represented by Nonhle and ‘Madiba’, and rendered in a style using arresting cinematography, beautiful sand animation and sensational original music. After a successful screening circuit, The Shore Break is regularly used in outreach and teaching activities.
